OUR STORY

from a love of woodwork…
“Acorn Upcycling was born out of necessity in 2019. Before this I have worked in many different sectors and I have held many positions from a chef a retail manager and self trained carpenter to name but a few!
My passion for woodworking has grown over the years and lead me to create this interestingly unique business. This allows me the desired freedom of creativity and the availability to be on hand with my son whenever needed, assisting with his advanced physical and mental needs.
I was looking at building a business in which I could combine my past experience with my current interest in upcycling and sustainability.
I saw a bench in a nostalgic type establishment which I loved but couldn't afford and thought I could replicate that myself! And from that day Acorn Upcycling was born.”
WHERE IT ALL STARTED…
This chair is the first piece of furniture ever created at Acorn Upcycling and it still takes pride of place in our garden standing up strongly against the elements like the mighty oak tree. That was the beginning of something new, laying out the foundations for further creations forged from wood. From here Acorn Upcycling has evolved into a business that strives to reuse old whisky barrels and give them a new lease of life.

meet the maker…
“Hi my name is Chris. I am the owner, creative director, manufacturer, sales assistant, marketing manager, and general dogsbody of the whole operation. Christmas staff parties are very quiet, believe me!
I am a 48 year old father of six amazing children, living on Anglesey with my partner Faye, our two cats, two dogs and six chickens. Originally from Lancashire in England, I have moved all over the country and even resided in Spain on and off over many years in my youth.
I started off working with wood part time around fifteen years ago building sheds then summer houses, then moving on to cedar clad bespoke garden rooms, mainly down in the South of England and London area.
Around nine years ago I met Faye and her son Robert, in under a year I had relocated to start a new life here on Anglesey with them. Not long after we had Leo, our eldest son, very shortly after that Seren came along and then two years later Harry our youngest and final child.
We all now live together in a beautiful part of Anglesey called Benllech where I have created a workshop to grow my business.
Most of my business comes from selling at Beaumaris artisan market. Now, you don't need to take the long drive to Anglesey, although you really should! You can now order directly and have everything delivered to your door.
I look forward to creating new and exciting pieces for you, all customers, new and old.
Thanks for being part of the journey allowing me to create something for you to cherish for many years to come.” Chris
